Critter Care Wildlife Society is a North American Native Mammal Rehab Centre. We offer year-round unpaid internships to motivated individuals passionate about wildlife rehabilitation.

Critter Care Wildlife Society Internship Program

About Us

Critter Care Wildlife Society is a North American Native Mammal Rehab Centre, with 75-80% of our work focused on caring for baby animals. Our busiest time is from mid-March through September, when the majority of admissions arrive. During winter, we care for animals that were too small to release, late-season babies, and an increase in injury cases.

Internship Opportunities

We offer year-round unpaid internships to motivated individuals passionate about wildlife rehabilitation. Internships are available in both summer and winter, with summer internships (April/May until July 31 or later) being highly competitive. Preference is given to those able to commit to longer than two months.

What to Expect

  • Duration: Minimum 4 to 8-week commitment*
  • Schedule: Workdays can range from 8 to 12 hours, depending on the needs of the animals. During busy periods, you may have to work night feeds.
  • Duties: Feeding, food preparation, cleaning, laundry, administering treatments, and participating in building and maintenance projects. You’ll be involved in all aspects of the shelter.
  • Room & Board: Free accommodation and basic food are provided. If you eat meat, you will need to purchase your own.
  • No Smoking: There is absolutely no smoking allowed anywhere on-site.

*Critter Care’s Internship program has different minimum stay requirements depending on the time of year. From October to January, the minimum stay is 4 weeks, while from February to September, the commitment extends to 8 weeks. This flexible structure ensures that interns can contribute meaningfully to the care of wildlife while accommodating different availability. Also note, we are able to accommodate to long term placements i.e. 6 months +

Requirements

  • No prior wildlife experience is necessary.
